Don’t quit. Life is tough, but so are you lovely 🔥

Let's address a topic that hits close to home for many entrepreneurs – the urge to quit.

If you've been feeling a push to throw in the towel, admit defeat or question your suitability for the entrepreneurial game, you're not alone. Today's conversation is dedicated to shedding light on why you might be feeling this way and offering practical tips to pull yourself out of the funk.

The Dangers of "Quitters' Day"

Did you know that the day people most commonly give up on their goals is Day 19? This insight, drawn from Strava's extensive research on 80 million data points, coincidentally aligns with January 19th. So, if you're feeling the weight of your dreams and goals, be aware that "Quitters' Day" might be incoming!

Understanding the Psychological Battle

Our brains are wired for safety and familiarity, a trait deeply rooted in our evolutionary past. When we step outside our comfort zones, the subconscious deploys various tactics to pull us back into the known, even if it's not in our best interest. Recognising these negative thoughts is crucial to overcoming them.

If this seems familiar to you, here are my nine tips to overcome the urge to quit:

  1. Don't make decisions in a negative state - negative spirals hinder creative decision-making. Take a moment to reassure your nervous system that you're safe.

  2. Share your feelings and bring worries out of the dark. Share your struggles with a friend, spouse, mentor, or journal. Don't let these thoughts fester.

  3. Lean on your support network. You're not alone. Reach out to your tribe for support. There are people who want to help if you're willing to ask.

  4. Stop scrolling - avoid doom-scrolling on social media and excessive news consumption. Flood your mind with positive stories and inspiring messages.

  5. Slow down to speed up. It's okay to pause, reassess, and recalibrate. Taking a moment can provide clarity on the right next steps.

  6. Get outside - nature has a rejuvenating effect. A brief exposure to fresh air and bird song can uplift your spirits and provide a positive boost.

  7. Take action - if you're feeling confused, take action on something, anything. Action leads to clarity, and you just need to know the next right step.

  8. Do something joyful. Engage in activities that bring you joy. It not only provides a break but can spark inspiration and creativity.

  9. Remember who you are - reconnect with your purpose, vision, and unique spark. Your reasons for embarking on this journey are still valid.

Remember, life as an entrepreneur can be tough, but so are you.

If you're still here, engaging in this conversation - you possess the bravery, uniqueness, and incredible qualities needed to achieve your dreams.

Stay strong, stay inspired, and keep pushing forward!
